On the night of January 20th, James "Boomer" Robinson, an African American male, was struck and killed while driving home from work by a speeding police car which was driving at a rate exceeding 50 mph over the speed limit on a residential street. His car was struck so powerfully that it killed him on impact, slamming his car into a nearby house, causing it to burst into flames. Following the crash and its aftermath the police remained mum about the details related to the crash as well as the officers identity. The ultimate backtracking and arrest / trial of the officer in question read to many in the community as a brace against an already untenable brake.
