Great & small
A series of graphite drawings of small natural objects (flora, fauna and other organic phenomenon) in a large field of white on watercolor paper as well as medium sized, full page graphite drawings of industrial sites, also on watercolor paper. These drawings explore the delicate nature of our environment as well as our relationship to it. In juxtaposing these constructed sites with “natural” objects I seek to explore their conceptual relationship. Furthermore, in positioning the objects alone, as if in a vacuum, without context, I seek to express how in the absence of our relationship to it, nature is like an artifact to be observed but not utilized and how without purpose its true beauty is lost.
